Week 3, Trial Blog - Digby Jones Hereford Furniture.
Hmm... so... how do I write this down so my blog can be fun to read.... Anyway, this is my first blog, basically "practice" one, and this one is about the troubleshooter series of Digby Jones which he came to some furniture company-ish called Hereford Furniture that obviously have lots of problems to be solved. A little bit of company background, Herefore is a family business with 40 employees working for the business, and the biggest problem that Digby have to solve is how the company can make a loss of £80,000 in the past year. Therefore, after watching the video of how the owner manage the company and what kind of problems has been found through the questioning by Digby, I found out that there are lot of mistakes that are made by the owner on managing the business sufficiently.
In my opinion, I think as a company, Hereford have good vision and goals towards customer satisfaction and business life's due to the fact that they offer personal customisation for them in order for the company to compete and add unique selling point to the industry. However, with the number of employees the company have and no certain expertise in some areas, this can make the business into serious trouble of completing and make sure the quality is good for the customers. Furthermore, the company also diverse its business focus on three areas which are manufacture, retail and import that leads them into disaster of maintaining and controlling everything. As a matter of fact, even the most important part of the business cashflow is not done properly by the management and has been affecting the business hugely in terms of managing the money. Which is why in the video Digby is very unhappy and suggests it is best for Hereford Furniture to focus on one area that they succeed most with the knowledge to increase the chance of being successful with an additional awareness of cashflow being manage since it will gives the business numerous advantage like having a forecast of financial statements.
Moreover, since the owner has been very honest of him being poor at handling the company and making some of huge mistake such as her daughter appointment being in upper management level without any experience, Digby Jones once again proves that he is worth the risk of applying the changes that he suggests for the company as "Hereford Furniture" is changed to "Hygge" that means warm, big, and love. This change of name can not be only beneficial for the business of having catchy words, but also increased brand awareness of the company. The change of the name also came up with a logo for their product. It is an effective way to promote their product and to create brand awareness.

From this kinda funny and big case of how real company can do such a mistake, I learn that it is important for a business especially the owner with its upper managements to have a good experience and expertise in certain area which can drive the business into better improvements since a company is not only having a excellent vision and objectives, but it is how the individuals inside the company can achieve it. I also found out that a communication and relationship in a business is more important than ever due to the fact in Hereford case, the owner communication with its employee is pretty bad which makes them having low satisfaction, motivation, and improvement for the company as they are the ones who really knows internal problems arise and what should they do in the process of produce.
